A Student's Unexpected Witness

by anonymous on Jan 31, 2024

One of our IBCS students drives his car for Uber – but he also drives his car for the Lord. While driving, he plays Christian music, and sometimes this leads to spiritual conversations. Recently, he was bringing an older gentleman back from a medical appointment when the man started to ask questions about the Bible. This man has a sister who has been praying for him for 25 years; he had heard the gospel from her but had never believed.

The student says, “I knew that the Holy Spirit was working because, since I was driving, I couldn’t look up the verses. But they just came to me—the ones answering his questions.” Our student relayed how the Bible presents Jesus as the only Way of salvation and was able to present the whole gospel. He ended by saying, “You know what the Bible says. Now you need to decide what to do with it.”

There was 8 minutes of silence while the ride completed. The gentleman got out of the car, started walking away, then he came back. Knocking on the window, he asked, “I can do this right now, right?”

“Yes, of course!"

The man got back into the car and they both prayed. He prayed a prayer of submission and faith and was saved. He had known the gospel, but God sent an Uber driver to supply just what he needed at just the right time to come to saving faith.

The lesson for us: witnessing opportunities abound! We just need to recognize them and speak up for the Lord, trusting that God can use us to sow a seed, to water, and sometimes to participate in the harvest.
