The International Baptist College and Seminary music department provided an uplifting message for the Christmas season. About 170 IBCS supporters, Tri-City Baptist Church members, and Tri-City Christian Academy students attended the special Lessons and Carols chapel on Thursday, December 11 at 11:00 a.m. This is the only performance at Tri-City that takes place in the church foyer, a space uniquely suited to achieving an ethereal musical sound.
The IBCS Choir opened the program with “Ding! Dong! Merrily on High” with four-hand piano accompaniment. Then the 15-voice Chamber Singers performed perennial Christmas favorites “Masters in this Hall” and “Still, Still, Still.” The centerpiece of the program was the 40-voice IBCS Choir performing Schubert’s Mass in G. Students sang the various solos in the 30-minute work and Rebekah High collaborated on the piano, playing with musical intelligence and sensitivity. Also performing was the newly-formed IBCS Handbell Ensemble directed by Mrs. Judy Endean. The group played a prelude and two featured songs in the program.
The program was repeated on Friday, December 12 and Sunday December 14 in the church auditorium to an audience of over 500.
